When I watched the series, I noticed a sudden and considerable drop in quality after "The Return of Chef." I never saw anyone on the Farms mention this or anywhere else, but it's clear the goals shifted for the showrunners after that episode.

self reporting and then they made episode in the later seasons about how that is a big no no or something like that
That's because Matt and Trey Parker were finally invited to the nu-'stein parties after years of complaining.

Shit, yeah. I'm looking in between those seasons, and there's a lot of episodes I liked there. Not sure now if the episode I referenced is specifically the one I remember being the "end of an era," but there's clearly a reason why it stuck out.

It was because the scientologists forced the va to quit and they thought he was genuine so they made the episode to leak at it

There was something else there, but yeah. I want to say that the showrunners/writers started obsessing over Randy around this time and started using him a lot more, but even that explanation seems iffy since seasons 10-13 have a lot of variety from what I remember. I know I really disliked watching the show after Randy metamorphosed into Trey Parker IRL.

I think that started in like season 14-16 but even then he didn't really get the spotlight until way later, and his episodes from back then were still way better than what I saw last night which had fucking Cartman as one of the voices of reason and this weird cupid dude being the evil Kanye West parody
