I've noticed that "safe edgy" has moved from insulting colonial powers to making fun of Balkaners for actual historical tragedies they faced. These countries had no power, today they have no power, and today they are much poorer than the poorest American states. The only reason people feel fine insulting them is because they're White.
They do this with Eastern Europeans as a whole as well as Southern Europeans to a lesser degree.
